on the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan. Located near Ak-Sai village, the canyons are characterized by pale and reddish eroded slopes, dry channels and wide views toward the lake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The area is also known as the Valley of Forgotten Rivers, a name used for the network of dry channels and ravines shaped by erosion. The canyons offer an easy way to experience the unusual dry landscapes of southern Issyk-Kul without a long mountain trek.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"About_Ak-Sai_Canyons\"><\/span><b>About Ak-Sai Canyons<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ak-Sai Canyons form a network of dry channels and eroded valleys descending toward the southern shore of Issyk-Kul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike the high mountain landscapes found elsewhere in Kyrgyzstan, this area has a dry, semi-desert character. Pale sedimentary slopes, gullies and ridges create a landscape that contrasts strongly with the blue waters of Lake Issyk-Kul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The canyons are particularly interesting because the landscape reveals the traces of old water channels.
